001 425x425 Startup Weekend Ending in Hsinchu

The second Startup Weekend to hit Taiwan will be over in a couple of hours having drawn over 100 talented participants to the tech mecca of Hsinchu. Billed as No Talk, All Action, Startup Weekend aims to match entrepreneurs with co-founders, engineers and design specialists, and has proven to be a significant driver of entrepreneurialism in over 400 cities around the world. The event kicked off on Friday night with a keynote by Alex Chen, CEO and co-founder of restaurant booking service EZTable, and the surprise announcement of Startup Labs, a brand new incubation program that is launching its NT$1 million-a-team flagship program in Taipei next February.

Over twenty ideas were pitched to the audience in 60 second bursts, which were then whittled down to the best fourteen or so. Once the teams entered into Saturday, two teams had broken down, leaving twelve remaining teams vying for the chance to be the winners of Startup Weekend Hsinchu. Prizes on offer include an Apple iPad2 donated by Fliptop, and a Kindle Fire, from the guys at Cardinal Blue.

We at TechOrange will bring you the winning teams once they have been announced, in the meantime, you can catch more about them here.
